Purpose of the Job

eFlexes are currently recruiting a Project Financial Controller on behalf of a client based in County Clare. The Project Financial Controller is responsible for budgeting and forecasting, accounting, monthly and annual reporting, cost management, cost allocation (considering Pillar Two tax rules), and overseeing the annual external audit process. The role collaborates closely with the Commercial, Project Management, and Engineering Teams, as well as the Head of Controlling for the IWS Business Line and the Finance Director. Additional duties may include involvement in the SAP system upgrade to S/4 HANA and the transfer of IWS business activities in Ireland to a new company.


Areas of Activity and Results

1. Remediation Project Financial Management/Controlling and Reporting

  • Area of Result: Manage project revenue and expenditure capture for Contract B, ensuring stakeholders have up-to-date financial performance clarity.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Conduct detailed monthly reviews of project costs, ensuring correct cost capture against orders and G/L accounts.
    • Report on costs to date against work packages, explaining variances from contract pricing and identifying overruns.
    • Accrue all costs at period end, regardless of invoice status.

2. Budgets & Outlooks

  • Area of Result: Prepare and submit annual 5-year Budget and bi-annual Outlooks.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Manage process contributors to ensure timely input submission.
    • Review, challenge inputs, and present P&L to the Business Unit.
    • Submit P&Ls to Group Finance and present at Group Review meetings.

3. Month-End Closing Process

  • Area of Result: Complete month-end close within Group deadlines to produce accurate P&L.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Analyze project costs to ensure proper cost accrual and assignment.
    • Prepare and post necessary revenue and expense accruals.
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for Deferred Revenue and ensure correct equipment depreciation.

4. Project Team Collaboration

  • Area of Result: Support and review financial analysis with the Project Team.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Schedule and conduct monthly account review meetings with the Project Team.
    • Provide ongoing financial support in Project Team meetings.
    • Present financial performance at Steering Committee meetings.

5. Audits/Annual Reporting

  • Area of Result: Deliver a clean audit result.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Prepare necessary documentation for auditors timely.
    • Prepare supporting working papers for specific accounting positions.

6. S/4 HANA Implementation

  • Area of Result: Contribute to the successful implementation of S/4 HANA for the IWS Business line.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Participate in financial process testing and reporting for IWS Business processes in the Irish and UK contexts.

7. Scission of Company

  • Area of Result: Assist in transferring the IWS Business line in Ireland to a new company.
  • Examples of Tasks:
    • Perform ad hoc tasks as required by the Finance Director related to the business transfer.

Context & Dimensions

Context:

  • Operates under the Group’s cooperation agreement.
  • Interacts with the Project Team, IWS Controlling team, and Ireland Finance and Purchasing Team.

Dimensions:

  • Project duration until mid-2027, occupying approximately 50% of the role.
  • Based on site at least 50%.
  • No direct reports.

Function Profile

Knowledge & Skills

Education:

  • ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualification with a minimum of 8 years of experience.

Experience:

  • Essential: SAP experience; S/4 HANA preferred.
  • Desirable: IBM Cognos Controller, IBM Cognos PAX, Oracle Business Intelligence.
  • Experience in medium to large construction projects or similar high-value projects.
