Our client, located in Shannon, County Clare, is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to play a crucial role in their EH&S function at the production facility in Shannon, Co Clare. This role involves monitoring and coordinating aspects of the EH&S program, leading continuous improvement projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Job overview
- The role is based at our production facility in Shannon, Ireland and is part of the EH&S function for the site.
- Monitor and coordinate allocated elements of the Company’s EH&S program, along with associated continuous improvement projects.
- Due to the extent and multi-disciplined nature of the job responsibilities degrees of emphasis will be required.
- The role includes supporting the HS&E team in all aspects of the role from preparation, analysis through to internal & external audit and Risk Assessment compliance; the person will be responsible for developing and maintaining our ZERO HARM principles, practices, and procedures as part of a continued drive for continual improvement.
Duties and tasks
- Development, implementation, and continuous improvement of robust EH&S management systems, ensuring all necessary supporting policies, procedures and work instructions are fit for purpose, meet legislative and contractual requirements, and achieve the delivery of industrial best practice & performance.
- Undertake effective monitoring, testing, reporting, auditing and review of EH&S management and performance. Assist in the completion & submission to the Environmental Protection Agency of the AER and EPR reports.
- Undertake investigations into EH&S Incidents determine and implement all necessary actions to prevent a recurrence, liaise with the relevant regulatory bodies as necessary.
- Management of ISO standards (14001:2015, 45001:2018)
- Coordinate necessary statutory training.
- Work closely and support site business units on HS&E associated projects.
- Assist in the management of the Emergency Response Team site function.
- Drive WCM (World Class Manufacturing) in respect of EHS such continuous improvements, ensuring all employees are process confirmed regarding the EHS of their roles.
- Holding employee to account regarding EHS standards and processes.
Criteria skills
- Relevant Environmental, Health & Safety Qualification essential.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work under their own Initiative.
- A problem solver who enjoys working in a small close-knit team, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Excellent leadership, training, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Very proactive with strong time management skills.
