Due to ongoing business growth, we currently have an excellent opportunity for Health & Safety Representative to join our long-established Clare based multinational manufacturing client. Position will report to Facilities, Health & Safety Manager and will be offered on an initial 12 month contract with significant opportunity for the longer term for the right candidate.
PURPOSE
Responsible for providing support to Health & Safety Manager to ensure ongoing adherence to Health & Safety standards across the organization in line with legislation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- To inspect and audit across the business for H&S compliance
- To support and provide guidance in ensuring legislative compliance and improving health and safety in the business
- To deliver health and safety inductions and other safety training as required
- Support managers in performing risk assessments and implementing corrective and preventive action
- Develop health and safety procedures, policies, work instructions, checklists etc.
- Ensure that all accidents, incidents and near misses are fully reported, investigated and closed out.
- Assist with the implementation of safety policies and procedures.
- Identify training needs and assist in the management of training records.
- Assist as required in the design of training plans and training courses.
- Perform chemical safety evaluations
- Liaise and coordinate with external consultants
- Coach employees on positive health and safety practices
- Carry out emergency plans and fire drills
- Compile and issue reports as required, including weekly, monthly and ad hoc as required.
- Ensure all documentation and procedures are up to date and compliant with all legal requirements including ISO45001, ISO14000 etc.
- Participation in the Chemical Spill Team & Emergency Response Team – Training will be provided for these roles on site.
- Support any Lean, 5S, and EHS initiatives in Facilities and other departments as required.
- Assist with Health and Safety initiatives and programmes as requested by Health and Safety Manager.
- Perform other duties or tasks as assigned or required from time to time.

KEY EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant third level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety essential.
• Previous experience working in a similar role in manufacturing company
• Good knowledge of current health and safety legislation
• Flexibility in working patterns where necessary
• Strong IT Skills, including Microsoft suite of products.
• Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Ideal but not necessary – Trained manual handling instructor
