We are currently recruiting for a Product Development Chemist with long established multinational Medical Devices client based in Limerick city.
Position will be offered on initial 12 month contract with opportunity to extend for the right candidate.
Job Summary:
Designs and develops new tape constructions and processes consistent with the company’s Product Development Process. Develops improvements to existing products and/or processes. Investigates customer complaints and product non-conformances.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participates in identifying future R&D needs and formulating plans to address. Plans and manages own projects. Participates in development of project plans for larger scale projects. Reviews and defines project requirements with Supervisor.
2. Develop product constructions and processes, including all experimentation/evaluation and specifications assembly. Designs & conducts chemical experiments on both lab- and production-scale utilizing new and established methods with the intent of achieving specific desired material attributes. Projects may involve basic research and/or product development. Contributes to design and specification of production scale processes and validation thereof.
3. Define test methodologies and requirements. Prepares test samples and conduct tests on chemicals and/or materials as required to support programs
4. Analyzes technical data from both experiments and property testing to draw conclusions. Documents project work in lab notebooks, issues reports, and maintains files on projects. Completes any necessary regulatory forms.
5. Interface with Associates from other departments as needed (e.g. cross-functional teams).
6. Interfaces with external customers consistent with program requirements.
7. Maintains an active awareness of technology inside and outside the Company (including competitive benchmarking). Interfaces with customers on new product applications. Perform other duties as assigned.
8. Proactively contributes to the development and maintenance of a safe work environment for self and associates.
9. Makes identifiable and substantial contributions to continuous improvement. Performs all duties consistent with established company guidelines consistent with ISO-9001 and those elements of GMP deemed necessary to support our business (as outlined in the Quality Manual). Actively complies with and endorses Department and Company objectives.
Job Specifications:
? BS degree (or higher) in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science or materials science and/or significant industrial experience. Formulation, mixing process and coating process experience preferred.
? Must communicate fluently in English
? Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information
? Ability to perform duties with moderate supervision
? Excellent oral & written communication skills
? Excellent interpersonal skills
? Ability to manage multiple priorities
? Requires an aptitude to use sensitive test equipment
? Knowledge of computers & related word processing, spreadsheet & e-mail software – Microsoft preferred.
? Ability to employ statistical analysis techniques
