We have an exciting position for a Data Protection Officer to join a talented and dynamic team on a part-time basis, for a two-year fixed-term contract.
Based in Shannon, Co. Clare, the Data Protection Officer will play a critical role within the organisation to ensure compliance with Data Protection and GDPR laws.

As Data Protection Officer your responsibilities will include:

Continued development of the Data Protection Framework to ensure compliance with Data Protection Laws.

Serve as primary point of contact for Data Protection related queries, including DSAR’s, consent management, and consent withdrawal processes.

Policy & Procedure Development – continuously develop and update policies and procedures to align with GDPR and Data Protection Regulations.

Contract & Data Review – Liaise with key internal stakeholders to review contracts and related data to ensure compliance with Data Protection Laws. Provide guidance on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA’s) where necessary.

Data Processing Oversight – Oversee Processes and develop Policies & Procedures related to Data Processing, Sharing, Retention, Data Breach Response and DSAR’s.

Collaboration with the Head of IS – Work closely with the Head of IS Security in matters related to Data Security.

Data Protection Investigations – Lead Data Protection Investigations, working closely with HR, conduct interviews, document investigation and recommend corrective action.

Training and Education – Develop and deliver training and education programs on Data Protection ensuring employees involved in data processing activities are aware of their obligations under GDPR.

Knowledge Maintenance – Maintain expert knowledge of Data Protection Laws and Practices making recommendations when appropriate to ensure compliance with these laws.
Candidate requirements:

Third Level qualification in a relevant field, such as Law, Information Security or Data Privacy.

Certified Information Privacy Professional / Europe (CIPP/E) is desirable.

2-3 years’ experience in a Data Protection position or related field.

Thorough knowledge of Data Protection Legislation and Regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
