Operations Manager
We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager for an exciting new role in the logistics industry. With a new European base located in Dublin, our client is a long-established Global Freight & Logistics Company providing multi-modal logistic services.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will lead the operations team in their day-to-day activities, providing a hands-on leadership approach across all aspects of the service, i.e., Air, Road, and Ocean shipments, including associated documentation and Customs Clearance.
The Operations Manager will require a minimum of 5 years’ broad logistics experience, and will gain considerable career boosting experience within a global logistics company.
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide hands on Leadership to ensure the Operations Team meets daily KPI’s
- Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure seamless delivery of service
- Report monthly to General Manager
- Assist other operational departments as required
- Co-ordinate movement of shipments from customer to international destinations via third party transport providers (end to end process monitoring)
- Familiar with carrier rates and support negotiating of freight rates
- Ensure Invoicing to customers is completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Liaise with subcontractors to ensure speedy and accurate information flow
- Ability to maintain priorities and meet deadlines
- Manage internal and external audits for Import / Export compliance purposes
- Ensure compliance with Revenue & Customs regulations
- Identify and organise Team training in relevant departments / Co-ordinate cross training
- Participate and present at meetings with internal and external stakeholders
- Resolve any operational or scheduling issues as they arise
- Manage and implement KPI’s
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years Air / Road / Sea freight experience (at least 2 modes preferable)
- Expert knowledge of customs documentation and procedures is essential
- LTL & Groupage experience
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Demonstrated ability to manage assigned team and provide coaching and feedback
- Commercially savvy with excellent Business acumen
- Good organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English, both written & verbal
- Dangerous Goods Certified
- Negotiating skills
- Experience in Cargo Wise & BH IFMS will be an advantage
- Must enjoy being a team player and working within a target driven team environment
