Currently recruiting for superb new opportunity of Materials Buyer Planner, with Shannon, Co. Clare based Aviation client. Position will be offered as full time permanent role with very attractive package for the right candidate.
General Responsibility:
The Materials Buyer is responsible for the supply chain process for each project to meet business unit production goals. This would include the planning, scheduling, and purchasing of all materials, services, equipment and tooling for each project.
- Sourcing, ordering & expediting all material requirements on the project ensuring they are delivered and available to Production as required to meet project milestones
- Accurate placement of orders for materials and services ensuring pricing, certification, shipping instructions & lead time information is correct.
- As dept point of contact for customer representative on site the Buyer will ensure information related to supply of customer supplied material is accurate and updated on project reports.
- Utilization of all available supplier online sourcing & ordering tools ie Inventory Locator System ( ILS )
- Processing the following order types:
- Purchase Orders
- Repair Orders
- Exchange Orders
- Service Orders
- Non-Stock Orders
- Updating of project reports on a daily basis to ensure all delivery dates, details on supply of alternate parts and relevant shipping information is accurate.
- Working with freight & logistics partners to ensure accurate delivery of orders and resolving any logistical issues that arise within the supply chain.
- Working closely with the Materials Coordinator and Project Leader to ensure that parts that cannot be sourced within the project ground time are prioritised and that options to repair or fabricate these parts in-house are utilised
- Attending daily Project & Departmental meetings providing up to date information on all supply chain related matters.
- Be aware of contractual issues with customer with regards to part sign off limits, part pool / PBH agreements, fixed priced, T & M work and use of PMA material.
- Looking to constantly innovate & introduce new material options for Production while not compromising on quality for the customer.
- Collating of information required for project pre-input and wash up meetings & actioning any items arising from these meetings
- Management & auditing of our supplier base to ensure all approvals are current and updated as required as well as ensuring best price, lead time, quality & service to the company.
- Continuous monitoring of inventory levels with emphasis on MOQ’s, MOV’s, life limited material & targeting zero material returns on each project.
- Work closely with Shipping dept to ensure all core exchange parts are returned to vendors within agreed time frame and ensure no late return fees are incurred by the company.
- Assisting the Finance Department in resolving any supplier related financial queries that may arise.
- Provide an excellent customer service to in-house and external customers.
- Any other duties related to Materials as outlined by the Materials Team Leader.
Candidate Requirements:
- Non-EU/EAA nationals require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland
- A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a purchasing and supply chain role ideally within the aviation industry is required
- Qualification in IIPMM / APICS Purchasing, Logistics and/or Supply Chain is desirable with previous experience as a Material Buyer an advantage
- Experience in interpretation of drawings & manuals as well as a working knowledge of the Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC)
- Strong IT Skills with experience working with modern ERP Systems
- Have a consistent high level of commercial awareness.

- Have a strong work ethic, be reliable, focussed, self-motivated with a positive attitude, and be very customer service oriented.
- Experience of working in a Lean / 5S environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail

Typical Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in Shannon however travel may be a requirement of the role
- PPE is provided by the company and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime and any other shift patterns as may be required
- Must satisfy and maintain airport security requirements.
