JOB PURPOSE:
The Plant/Operations Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Production Plant including; planning, budgets, targets, performance, personnel, safety, quality and environmental, and new product/process introductions (NPI)
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Day to Day Production Management;
• Develop production forecasts and plans
• Ensure operational targets and plans are communicated, implemented, and achieved
• Collaborate in cross functional teams to achieve site and production targets and objectives
• Manage resources to achieve optimum site and production results
• Collaborate with finance department on budgets and cost management, and with the engineering department on CAPEX and investment requirements
• Continuously monitor and review operational performance and targets
• Ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance at all times in line with legislative, regulatory, and operating licence requirements
• Collaborate with the quality and EH&S departments where necessary
• Recruit, train, coach and develop production personnel (supervisors and operators)
• Manage several small production teams and ensure compliance with employment and safety legislation
• Oversee plant performance management process
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement and focus on operational excellence
• Stay up to date with current developments in the industry
• Ensure customer requirements are understood and delivered
New Product/Process Introductions (NPI);
• Work with the commercial teams on requests for price (RFP)
• Work in cross functional teams to deliver NPI
• Ensure all projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
• Any other responsibilities or activities relevant to the role of Plant Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must hold at least a Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Pharma/API industry in a similar role
• Pharma processes, equipment, systems etc.
• Project Management experience, ideally certified PM
• New Product/Process Introduction (NPI) experience
• Operational Excellence experience, ideally 6 sigma Black-Belt
• People Management experience ideally in a unionised environment
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of Pharma industry
