Our Shannon based client has a rare opportunity for an Automation Engineer to join their team on a six-month contract basis.
The Automation Engineer will be a key member of the local team, but also part of a group-wide structure supporting projects at other facilities. You will take an active role in the early specification of equipment to ensure that the reliability, redundancy and system integration are correct from the onset.

The role involves:

Software development on PLC control systems.

Process data interpretation and presentation of key parameters.

Machine and process automation.
-
Maintain 'Historian' database.
-
Provide technical support for site control systems.
-
Assist with the implementation of manufacturing systems.
-
Ensure system documentation is maintained up to date.
-
Provide technical support and advice to the on-site maintenance teams.

Contractor management.
-
Project Management.
Required skills and experience:
-
Engineering degree in any of Electrical, Electronic or Automation.

2 + years’ experience in control systems

Experience in programming and troubleshooting of Siemens and other PLC systems.

Experience with the control and monitoring of OEM systems.
-
Design, engineer, test and troubleshoot control systems.
-
Ability to work independently while applying the available resources.

Make decisions under pressure.
Desirable skills and experience:

Siemens Step 7 and WINCC, SINUMERIK

Understanding of OPC Servers
-
Ability to write SQL queries on various database platforms i.e., Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server
