Seafreight Co-Ordinator

We are delighted to be recruiting an experienced Seafreight Co-Ordinator on behalf of a well-established logistics client based in Shannon, Co. Clare.

Job Purpose

To provide a professional, efficient, and customer-focused sea freight operations service to both internal and external customers, ensuring shipments are managed effectively from booking through to final delivery and invoicing.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process and manage sea freight shipment bookings for forwarding operations.
  • Monitor shipments from initial customer booking through to final destination and payment.
  • Provide a consistently high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with local and international suppliers, vendors, shipping lines, and agents to secure competitive rates and efficient services.
  • Coordinate with transport providers regarding collections and deliveries.
  • Process sales and purchase invoices and resolve any customer or supplier invoice queries.
  • Manage rate requests and prepare and issue customer quotations.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of customs clearance requirements, including SADs and related documentation.
  • Support the ongoing development and growth of the company's sea freight services.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, agents, and internal teams.

Additional Duties

  • Provide operational cover during periods of annual leave and staff absence.
  • Assist other freight departments with administrative and operational requirements when necessary.
  • Attend occasional customer meetings and visits.
  • Participate in operational and business improvement projects.
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by the Operations Manager.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Several years' experience in a similar sea freight, freight forwarding, or logistics operations role.
  • Strong knowledge of sea freight processes and international logistics.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond quickly to changing business priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
