We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional seeking a reduced working schedule while maintaining responsibility for a varied portfolio of Irish, UK and International payrolls.
The position will operate on a structured part-time arrangement of 4 working days every two weeks, with working days aligned to key payroll processing deadlines. One working period each month will coincide with the month-end payroll cycle.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing, supporting internal and client payroll requirements, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Payroll Processing & Administration
Collate, review and validate payroll information from multiple sources and formats to ensure accurate processing.
Process internal and client payrolls, including monthly, fortnightly and weekly payrolls as required.
Manage Irish, UK and international payroll processing using internal systems and clients' payroll software.
Calculate and verify statutory deductions, payments and other payroll adjustments in accordance with relevant legislation.
Complete payroll reconciliations, validation checks and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Prepare and submit relevant payroll returns to Revenue, HMRC and other applicable international authorities within statutory deadlines.
Client Payroll Services
Manage payroll processing for an assigned portfolio of clients, ensuring service delivery in line with agreed deadlines and contractual requirements.
Liaise directly with clients regarding payroll submissions, queries, changes and reporting.
Respond professionally and efficiently to payroll-related employee queries.
Provide onsite payroll consultancy support where required and agreed.
Participate in client meetings to review service delivery, identify improvements and support new business opportunities.
Financial Administration & Reporting
Prepare payroll-related invoices and support the invoicing process.
Complete payroll journals, accruals, reconciliations and other financial reporting requirements as agreed with clients.
Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Use Microsoft Excel to consolidate payroll data, improve reporting and streamline payroll processes.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency and internal controls.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with data protection requirements and relevant payroll legislation.
Keep up to date with changes in Irish, UK and applicable international payroll regulations.
Previous experience in an Irish payroll processing role, ideally within a payroll bureau, outsourced payroll provider or multi-client environment.
Strong knowledge of Irish payroll legislation, PAYE, PRSI, USC and Revenue reporting requirements.
Experience processing UK payroll, including HMRC requirements, is highly desirable.
Exposure to international payroll processing would be an advantage.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with payroll software.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of payroll deliverables.
Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach.
A recognised payroll qualification, such as IPASS, would be an advantage.
This is a permanent part-time position designed to provide a predictable working pattern while meeting the operational requirements of the payroll cycle.
4 working days per fortnight.
Working days will be agreed in advance and scheduled around payroll deadlines.
One working period each month will align with the monthly payroll processing and month-end cycle.
Some flexibility may be required around statutory deadlines, bank holidays and payroll cut-off dates, with any additional hours agreed in advance.
